AT HIS RESIDENCE
Text -- backdated to Christmas
He couldn't find enough gifts for everyone he wanted to, so he sculpted these an sent out a sort of Christmas card instead. Of course, the snowmen are still there in person for the foreseeable future.]
A SEALED NOTE. ( backdated: jan 21, tuesday. )
Hi Molly!
I wanted to let you and the other people who fell asleep during the events and dreamt know the following: You can write to Dr. Solis and tell her what you dreamt.
You can do so at the Post Office. Postmaster General will send your letter to her.
And this isn't fair, I know, but I really hope you will write to her and describe what went down in your vision. I'm not sure who else was with you when you dreamt of the mines and the logbook doesn't describe anything about your area. So, right now, you're the only source I can turn to for this because the mines sound super promising.
Thanks,
Daylight.

Dear Mr. Tealeaf,
Thank you for writing to me. What you've described is troubling, to say the least, and I'm deeply sorry that you underwent this ordeal. Beacon's mines have always been cursed places.
As of yet, I cannot be sure if all of these visions were accurate to life, but no false detail has yet been relayed to me. Your experience is plausibly rooted in fact, as no piece of it sounds far-fetched given what I know of the mines.
I will be in touch soon, hopefully with more answers than questions. In the meantime, I hope you can make some use of this. Stay safe.
Best,
Dr. Maridel Solis
[Inside of the package, Molly will find a glowing blue rock that fits nicely into the palm of his hand. The attached instructions explain that this is called a hearthstone, and if rubbed between his hands, it will teleport Molly (and only Molly) to his place of residence from anywhere in Beacon! Cool!
But there's a catch: the stone can only be used once before the charge runs out and it stops glowing. It can be recharged, the instructions say, but it doesn't say how.]
REACTION. / A SPYING.
attempting to interact with the spirit causes it to panic and will begin to throw dirt and leaves and sticks at molly so the spirit has time to make a quick getaway. at one point, if molly can brave the foliage hitting his face, he may notice the spirit holding... a dirty notepad in its clawed hand?
huh. ]

after ducking the foliage and seeing the notepad, Molly just looks around.]
Is anyone else seeing this?
[Probably not. Maybe you're going crazy Molly.]
( feb 9: text. )
Remember how I said I'll reach out to you soon if something happens?
I know that meant the spirit language project at the time but this 'something', right now, is related to the mines. Can you text or call me back soon as you can?

What did you learn?

Could we meet somewhere private? It'll be faster to talk face to face. Especially since the spirits near the cabin Coraline and I live in are being, like, super weird. [ seriously. why are they digging a hole under his window...? ]
no subject
Wait. They're being weird to you too? I had one throw sticks at me.

Where are you right now? I can go to you if you want; I'm just finishing some music scripting and scanning my notes and sketches for last-minute details I might be missing about this.

I'm at the Invincible. You remember where my room is, right?

day politely knocks on the door when he arrives, smiling in gratitude when the door is opened. ]
Hey, Molly. Thanks you taking the time to see me. [ day has his... tablet readied, for some reason. does he have notes to share or does he want to take notes? ]

She sent me this for my information. I wasn't expecting her to be that nice.

[ daylight leans forward, inspecting the cool-looking stone with an excited expression on his face.
remembering the music box that dr. solis had given him, daylight realises that the stone probably had a special quality to it besides looking neat. ] Does it do anything?
Molly Finds an Opal
A young, gray-skinned tiefling is scampering about an alley as he approaches, running his hand along the rough stone. The boy, red-haired, with the beginnings of a set of black horns erupting from his forehead and a long black tail that whips around like a cat's, grins widely, running to meet him. His teeth are big and sharp and uneven.
"Welcome home! I was making for us...um...a bed! Do you like it? Look, look, come see!"
The boy pulls him forward, and Molly will see that "his" hand is the same gray skin tone as the much smaller tiefling. The bed appears to be made out of abandoned, torn clothing and cardboard.
"Nice," Molly says, his voice low and feminine. He's endeared, but tired, and sore from a long day of toil, but isn't about to let the kid down. "We can sit in it together while we eat."
"You found food today? Helen, Helen, Helen! You found food!"
The memory ends as the boy cheers.
