[He turns over the next card- the Knight of Cups (reversed).] You're in touch with your intuition and emotions and you're an idealistic sort, but be careful- your idealism could blind you. Follow your dreams, don't let them become obsessions, and be cautious of propositions.
[He turns over the final card. The Knight of Wands (reversed)] Eventually, you're going to reach a point where your enthusiasm and determination can carry you through anything. Something grand and exciting is on the way. Just be careful not to burn yourself out in all that excitement.
Yeah, that makes sense. [There's not much else she can say to that. She's someone who lived with her parents back home; part-time jobs were for luxuries, not food. Here, though, she's come to have a much better sense of working to pay the bills.
Being told to "look adorable" is a little weird, and maybe slightly patronizing, but he's got this breezy attitude that makes her understand it's not meant to be anything but light and friendly. So she sits back, hands on her lap, and listens to him as he pulls the cards.
Honestly, it's... accurate in a lot of ways. Working hard towards Love Live isn't a thing anymore, but she's been working hard to not be useless, right? She's learned how to use her music powers. And her idealism has been challenged since coming here, she knows-- it doesn't necessarily describe how she is now, but it describes well who she used to be.
The last card draws a smile from her, though.] Haha... that sounds nice, you know? Being able to just get through anything with hard work, and all!
It's as easy as it has to be. What's that they say? It's not the destination, it's the journey?
[He leans back again, idly shuffling the cards.] The trick is to balance hard work and never let go of your joy, even when life disappoints you. Because once that's gone, it won't matter how hard you work or what you've been through. It'll all just be one more hurdle for you to get over with nothing on the other side but more hurdles.
[He puffs out his cheeks and exhales.] To be honest? [Not that he's ever really that.] I feel like there's more people who have than there are who haven't. A lot of people simply just don't know how to have a good time and enjoy what moments they're given.
[He snorts.] Maybe for some people. I never plan anything farther than a day in advance. Too much could happen that'll tear all of that to shit, and then you just have to plan ahead again, and so on and so forth. [He flicks a wrist flamboyantly.] That's not for me. I see futures, I set people on the right paths to get to those futures, but the rest is just enjoying the ride.
[She sits back and thinks about that, her arms crossed.] Okay, but what if you wanted to plan a party? You'd have to take time to make sure you could have a place, and that there'd be enough food, and you'd have to let everyone know that, y'know, there'd be a party so that they could come. That takes more than a day!
You know? I think I would. Something to consider for the future. I suddenly have a lot of time on my hands. And afterwards, I'll add "walking contradiction" to my list of titles.
